I don't see a FAIL here, I think it's pretty dam good! I especially like the textured paiting you've done on the skin, wish I had a knack for digital painting like that!

Don't be so hard on yourself. Instead, why not use what you have here and develop another character with it. You have a great speedpainting that could be potentially used for an awesome foundation of a larger pic.
